Bio

Born in 1988 in Catania, between 2013 and 2017 he lived in Rome and attended the History of Art course at the Sapienza University of Rome where he obtained his Master's Degree. From 2019 he moved to Lombardy, where he teaches and continues his artistic research based on the Man-Society relationship, in tune with painting practice and different expressive forms such as installation.

After participating in several group exhibitions, he made his debut with a solo exhibition in 2014 "Agire in vista di uno scopo" at Palazzo Modica in Scordia.

In 2016 he won the Basilio Cascella Critics' Prize and the Codice Citra Special Mention.

In 2022 he received the prestigious Sciuti Prize.

Poetics

The artist is attentive to environmental issues with which he deals, often working in pictorial cycles. This approach allows him to explore issues related to the relationship between man and society in greater depth; a 'concrete' poetics that looks towards denunciation.

His works are like jigsaw puzzle pieces that, by juxtaposing one another, compose the complete vision of a society that has lost human values. Through his 'jigsaw puzzles', he offers pieces of missing values snatched from a society engulfed in 'nothingness'; a lack that describes the man of today as a mere machine devoid of states of mind.

The artist draws inspiration from classical and modern works, but also experiments with non-traditional artistic practices in his production. Although painting is his primary creative impulse, he makes use of sound installations and sculptural compositions when necessary, thus expanding his field of artistic exploration beyond the boundaries of painting.
